\nNaam: David Maij\n\nMail: info@vernieuwenderwijs.nl\n\nDavid komt uit een onderwijsfamilie. Zijn vader was geschiedenisdocent, zijn stiefvader en stiefmoeder beide docent Engels. Vanaf dat hij zich kan herinneren denkt hij al na over hoe het onderwijs beter kan. David haalde masters in klinische gezondheidspsychologie en cognitieve neurowetenschap aan de UL, promoveerde aan de UvA, deed onderzoek naar verslaving aan de EUR en gaf les op verschillende universiteiten. Zijn kennis over gedragsverandering en het brein wil hij nu implementeren in het onderwijs. is echt ons ding. Dat is ook niet zo gek: er zijn meer mogelijkheden dan ooit en we weten dankzij onderzoek ook steeds beter hoe onze hersenen werken. Het is dus bijna vreemd om niet actief in te zetten op het verbeteren van het onderwijs! We houden hier ons dan ook actief mee bezig: van digitale tools en onderzoeken over effectief leren, tot curriculumontwerp en de schoolorganisatie.\n\nWe zijn docenten en onderwijskundigen die dagelijks voor de klas staan en een ruime ervaring hebben in het lesgeven. Daarnaast zijn we ook dagelijks bezig met veranderkunde: zo werken we als onderwijskundigen, hebben we gewerkt aan diverse projecten zoals het opzetten van een nieuwe school, het starten van een regionaal docentennetwerk en ondersteunen we regelmatig scholen bij innovatietrajecten. We weten daarom wat wel én wat niet werkt.\n\nOm vast te leggen wat we doen en tegenkomen zijn we in 2015 met Vernieuwenderwijs gestart: eerst een klein blogje, nu een platform voor onderwijsinnovatie vanwaaruit wij met onze ervaring, kennis en expertise op het gebied van lesgeven en veranderkunde docenten, teams en scholen helpen bij grote en kleine vraagstukken. Theresialyceum in Tilburg is actief bezig met het neerzetten van een meer formatieve cultuur. Om daarbij te ondersteunen hebben wij een studiedag verzorgd voor de gehele school.\n\nDaarbij zijn we de dag begonnen met een keynote, waarin we zijn ingegaan op de concrete verschillen tussen summatief en formatief handelen, hoe formatief handelen er in de praktijk kan uit zien en wat dit vraagt van zowel docenten als de school als geheel. Vervolgens hebben we drie workshops aangeboden waaruit docenten konden kiezen: het ontwerpen van een formatief curriculum, het geven van effectieve feedback en leren zichtbaar maken. In deze workshops is het docententeam vooral praktisch aan de slag gegaan met het maken van lesmateriaal of het oefenen van vaardigheden. \n\nEen mooie studiedag met veel positieve feedback, waarbij met name de combinatie van onze theoretische kennis en praktijkervaring erg werd gewaardeerd. Veel docenten zijn na de studiedag actief aan de slag gegaan met onze input. Eerder al waren we aanwezig bij een kleine studiedag van Consent, waar wij 3 inspiratiesessies over gamification in de klas hebben gegeven. Vanwege de positieve feedback van docenten zijn wij vervolgens gevraagd om te ondersteunen bij de jaarlijkse studiedag, waarbij het doel was om docenten te inspirerend om te innoveren.\n\nDie dag hebben we allereerst een lezing over leren en mythes gegeven, waarbij we aan de hand van verschillende invloedrijke onderzoeken zijn ingegaan op 6 effectieve leerstrategieën en diverse mythes die in de loop der jaren zijn ontstaan, waarbij bijvoorbeeld de Taxonomie van Bloom en de Growht Mindset theorie aan bod kwamen (een eye-opener voor veel docenten!). Hierna hebben we twee workshops gegeven: één over gamification in de klas en één over makersonderwijs. Eén van de manieren waarop zij dat doen, is door het ontwikkelen en aanbieden van leerpleinen op locatie: een pop-up ruimte waar leerlingen, studenten en/of medewerkers één of meer dagen actief met een onderwerp of vraagstuk aan de slag gaan en zo gezamenlijk naar concrete innovaties of oplossingen toe werken.\n\nVanuit Vernieuwenderwijs zijn we gevraagd om mee te denken bij het ontwerpen van een nieuw leerplein, gericht op leerlingen en studenten, waar de deelnemers gedurende 2 dagen bezig gaan met de toekomst van hun eigen studierichting. Het doel daarvan is dat zij zich actief verdiepen in de invalshoeken mens, natuur, technologie en economie, om vervolgens in groepen toe te werken naar wat die toekomst inhoudt voor hun eigen handelen. Daarbij krijgen de leerlingen op verschillende niveaus instructie en werken zij daarnaast onder begeleiding, zelfstandig op het leerplein. \n\nWe zijn bij de school betrokken om het onderwijs op het bètaplein te herontwerpen om het beter te laten aansluiten bij de oorspronkelijke doelen, om zo leerlingen meer maatwerk te geven en daardoor te motiveren. Om dit innovatietraject neer te zetten hebben we in overleg met de directie en docenten een ontwikkelteam gevormd die wij begeleiden bij het ontwerpproces. Daarbij wordt er stap voor stap toegewerkt naar een leersituatie waar leerlingen meer op hun eigen tempo en manier werken aan kerndoelen, waarbij formatief, het leren zichtbaar maken. Eerst deden zij dit met het project ‘Leerling2020’ en tegenwoordig met het project ‘Voortgezet Leren’, in samenwerking met de VO-Raad Vanuit die projecten organiseert Schoolinfo onder andere studiedagen waarop docenten theoretische kennis en praktische informatie krijgen over één over meer onderwerpen die op die dag centraal staan.\n\nVanuit Vernieuwenderwijs werken we al enkele jaren met Schoolinfo samen, waarbij we al op verschillende studiedagen en inspiratiedagen lezingen en workshops hebben verzorgd over onderwerpen als formatief evalueren, het werken met rubrics en curriculumontwerp. Daarbij staat altijd de vertaling naar de eigen praktijk centraal. Zo maken docenten bijvoorbeeld rubrics of gaan zij actief aan de slag met het opnieuw uitdenken van hun curriculum.\n\nNaast het feit dat we bijdragen aan studiedagen, denken we ook met Schoolinfo mee over zowel de onderwerpen die op studiedagen centraal kunnen staan, als de manier waarop de studiedagen worden ingericht.
